PIERRE, S.D. – Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that the deadline to file a claim in the Western Union settlement has been extended until May 31, 2018. The previous deadline was set for February 12, 2018.

In November 2017, the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Postal Service settled with Western Union on a $586 million dollar settlement for aiding and abetting wire fraud. The settlement money will be used to provide refunds to people who were tricked into using Western Union to pay scammers.
